To make a complete set, each card’s traits have to be the same or all different.

There are 4 kind of traits.

Now here is another example of a completed set…

STYLE: all the same (blank)

NUMBER: all different (1,2,3)

COLOR: all different (orange, blue, green)

SHAPE: all the same (square)

This is an easy way to check.  Just look at each trait and make sure you can say either all the same or all different.

This is NOT a completed set…

not set

SHAPE: all the same (triangle)

NUMBER: all the same (3)

COLOR: all different (blue, orange, green)

STYLE: Oops!

There are two striped cards and one scribbled-in. That means STYLE is not ALL the same or ALL different!
